MES Family Update 10.9
Hello MES Families!
This week at MES, we focused on Respect and the power of our words. Mrs. White and I had assemblies across all grade levels to talk with students about thinking before we speak, recognizing the impact our words can have on others, and knowing what to do when someone says something unkind to us.
We discussed several strategies students can use in these situations, including taking a breath, walking away, telling a trusted adult, or setting a firm boundary with statements such as, “Don’t say that,” “Stop. I don’t like that,” or “That hurt my feelings.” Continuing these conversations at home gives students additional opportunities to reflect on and practice these skills with trusted adults. Thank you for reinforcing these important messages with your children!
We also had some wonderful help spreading kindness throughout MES! Students in Mrs. Piccinnini’s class created kindness messages and positive affirmations to display on doors around our school. These reminders reinforce that each of us has the power to be kind, that everyone has something special to offer, and that MES should always be a safe and welcoming place for all. Thank you to our friends in Room 223 for brightening up our school!
