Our Principal

Welcome to Marlton Elementary School! My name is Ms. Smith, and I am so excited to serve as your MES Principal!

Whether you're a returning family or joining us for the very first time, I am so happy you're here. It is truly an honor to serve as Principal of MES - a school that has a way of making everyone feel like they belong.

One of the things I love most about MES is that our school community genuinely cares for one another. Our students support each other, our staff goes above and beyond every day, and our families are true partners in helping children succeed. There is a shared commitment to doing what's best for kids, and that sense of teamwork is something that makes MES so special.

Throughout our daily school life, we are committed to developing the whole child by nurturing strong character, meaningful relationships, and a positive school community. Through our CARES expectations district-wide - Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control - students learn the skills they need to become confident learners, kind classmates, and thoughtful citizens.

This year's district theme, "Succeeding with Self-Control," reminds us that learning to manage our emotions, choices, and actions is one of the most important skills we can help children develop. Self-control isn't about being perfect; it's about learning, growing, and making thoughtful choices when faced with challenges. Whether students are solving a conflict with a friend, persevering through difficult learning, or celebrating someone else's success, these everyday moments help build lifelong skills. 

Our commitment to Responsive Classroom practices is another important part of who we are. Daily Morning Meetings help students start each day feeling connected and ready to learn, while grade levels have the opportunity to host schoolwide Morning Meetings that bring our entire school community together. We intentionally create opportunities for students to build relationships, develop leadership, and strengthen their sense of belonging because we know children learn best when they feel connected.

As both an educator and a mom navigating the toddler trenches with my daughter, Maggie, I understand the incredible trust families place in their child's school. Please know that we don't take that responsibility lightly. We believe the strongest schools are built on strong partnerships between home and school, and we encourage families to be active members of our school community. Whether it's joining our PTA, volunteering when you're able, attending school events, or simply staying connected with your child's learning, your involvement makes a meaningful difference. Together, we can create the very best experience for every child.
