New MES Traffic Pattern Starting Nov. 9th - Please Read
Hello MES Families!
I am writing to share some important changes to our arrival traffic procedures and parking expectations, which will go into effect on Monday, November 9th.
The safety of our students, families, and staff is always our top priority. In an effort to improve traffic flow and ensure that students can arrive at school safely, we will be implementing stricter parking and traffic procedures on our shared MES/MMS/MPC campus.
Beginning November 9th, parents and guardians will no longer be permitted to park, stop, or exit their vehicles in any area outside of the designated MES parent drop-off loop during morning arrival or afternoon dismissal. This includes the parking areas adjacent to MES
We recognize that some families have become accustomed to parking and walking their children across the traffic areas to enter school. However, this practice creates significant safety concerns, particularly with the volume of vehicles and buses moving throughout our campus each morning.
What does this mean for MES families?
- All MES families must utilize the designated parent drop-off loop when dropping students off in the morning.
- Families should follow the blue route indicated on the attached maps, proceeding through the loop to the yellow designated drop-off zone before continuing toward the exit. Please note that this path is one-way but both lanes in the lot may be utilized for drop-off.
- Parking or stopping outside of the MES traffic loop is not permitted during morning arrival. Families may not park in the MMS parking lot or surrounding areas to walk students to MES.
- The outside lane along MES is reserved for buses only and must remain clear.
- Please follow all posted signage, designated traffic patterns, and directions from staff to help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.
- While you may park your car in the designated MES lot if you plan to accompany your child to the door, you must walk your child up to the cross-walk in order for them to cross safely. Otherwise, you may pull your car up by the cross-walk and drop your child off.
We have attached two maps to help families familiarize themselves with the designated traffic patterns, drop-off locations, and areas where parking and stopping are prohibited. Please take a few moments to review these maps before November 9th.
We understand that changes to established routines can require some adjustments, particularly during busy mornings. However, these procedures are necessary to ensure that all students can enter our building safely while minimizing potential hazards for pedestrians and drivers. If your child is registered for a bus, please consider sending your child on the bus to avoid the congestion.
I am asking for everyone’s cooperation and patience as we implement these changes. By following our designated traffic patterns and keeping parking areas, bus lanes, and roadways clear, we can work together to make morning arrival safer and more efficient for our entire school community.
Thank you, as always, for your understanding, flexibility, and partnership in keeping our MES students, staff, and families safe!
Ms. Smith
